The wallbed is nothing but a bed hidden in the wardrobe horizontally. How to make a comfortable sleeping place for two, save space, arrange a bedroom or living room? We present how you can arrange a modern half-wall in any interior. There are two ways, the rest depends only on the imagination, the space we have, and above all what we ultimately want to achieve.
The first question we should answer is whether the selected bed-half-wall should be visible or not?
Method one – where is my wall bed?
Built-in bed is a solution for interiors, which on a daily basis usually perform other functions than the bedroom. A wall mat for the living room will be perfect. It can literally disappear in the library wall, modern wall unit or in shelves. Thanks to the available over 50 different types of finishes, the bed can be integrated into the building so that it will create a stylistic whole. An additional way to hide it will be connecting it to the sofa. The bed in the wardrobe with a sofa is also available in a horizontal version – in the Transforms offer it is the Smartbed O Sofa version. Then when you open the sofa will disappear under the mattress and will not require moving the furniture.
This solution also works well in a narrow bedroom, in which we want to devote one wall to a custom-made wardrobe. This was the case in the implementation presented in the pictures. A small space where the client wanted to have both a wardrobe, a comfortable bed and as much as possible of the living space. Thanks to this solution, we can arrange a comfortable bedroom with all functionalities even in a 2-meter wide room. (!!!) The narrowest horizontally folding bed Smartbed O, i.e. a double bed is 157 cm wide (for a 140×200 mattress). The maximum width of the bed is 197cm and is adapted to a 180×200 mattress. In the case of a narrow room it is definitely a more convenient solution than the bed in the wardrobe closed vertically.
Method two – wallbed “in view”
Equally common as the first method of “disappearing” is the method of displaying the wall wall as a separate piece of furniture. Although the bed in the wardrobe is then a separate element of the room’s decor, it still saves space in the living space. It remains then to choose whether we need a wall wall only in a simple housing, or with additional buildings and functionalities, but of a different type than the full wall housing.
The horizontally retractable bed is small. So there is a lot of space on the wall to arrange it. It can be separate furniture, e.g. bookshelves. It is also a good place for a family photo collection. But usually we choose a bed in the wardrobe for the sake of saving space. So we try to use them optimally. Designing a wall wall with an additional extension with shelves and cabinets will solve the problem of “where to put a cabinet for clothes?”.
Where does this solution work? It is definitely a functional idea for a wallbed for children or teenagers. This solution will also work in the bedroom for two, which is already partially arranged and the bed we want to “recompose” to the existing space. It can also be the other way around – arranging a flat, we reduce furniture expenses to a minimum. When choosing a wall bed with an extension, we have a multifunctional piece of furniture, thanks to which further furnishing of the room can wait. And we have another saving.
